KARACHI - In a decisive blow against foreign-sponsored terrorism, Sindh Police's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) recently eliminated three Indian-backed Afghan TTP terrorists and arrested several others plotting major attacks in Karachi. Today, a suicide attack targeted a Rangers installation in the city, underscoring the persistent threat posed by Indian proxy networks.

In recent counterterrorism operations, the CTD successfully eliminated multiple terrorists affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) - a group Pakistan has designated as Fitna al-Khawarij, operating as an Indian-sponsored proxy network.
In a July 2025 intelligence-based operation near Mochko on Hub River Road in Karachi, CTD forces neutralized two TTP cadres, recovering a suicide vest, Kalashnikov rifle, pistol, and explosive materials.
In a simultaneous July 2025 operation in Karachi's Manghopir area, CTD forces killed three TTP terrorists, including one identified as Zafran - a militant with a Rs 20 million bounty - and another confirmed suicide bomber. Officials believe he was involved in the 2024 attack on Chinese nationals in Karachi. Explosives, suicide vests, hand grenades, and a diary listing potential targets were recovered.
The CTD has identified these networks as "Fitna-e-Hindustan" - a reference to Indian-sponsored terror proxies. A January 2026 CTD operation in Karachi's Rais Goth seized over 2,000 kilograms of high-grade explosives and arrested three suspects, with evidence confirming the network was being operated from India and linked to BLA commander Bashir Zeb and the Majeed Brigade.
"Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosive material was transported from Afghanistan to Balochistan and then to Karachi... evidence indicates that the terrorist network was being operated from India," officials confirmed.
On Saturday, a suspected suicide attack targeted a Pakistan Rangers compound in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Johar area, triggering a powerful explosion followed by heavy gunfire.
According to security sources, the attack began when a suspected suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the compound entrance, followed by a group of five to six militants storming the facility. Initial reports confirmed the deaths of three Rangers personnel, while at least three suspected militants were killed during the clash, with four attackers reportedly eliminated.
Sindh Police Chief Javed Alam Odho confirmed the casualties, as security forces launched a clearance operation to secure the area. The attack injured at least two people.
Pakistan has consistently presented evidence that India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) is actively sponsoring terrorism through proxy networks operating from Afghan soil.
"Since 2021, India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) is reported to have targeted at least twenty Pakistani militants through an elaborate network of intelligence agents and mercenaries," analysts have documented.
India's covert operations include recruiting Afghan nationals as proxies, with RAW recruiting Afghan nationals in return for cash to carry out assassinations inside Pakistan. "The attacks are reported to follow the same pattern - UAE-based Pakistani workers or Afghan nationals are recruited by RAW in return for cash, and they work with a small local cell for months to plan and execute the killing."
Defense analysts note: "It is an open secret that India is sponsoring state terrorism and using Afghan soil in order to destabilize Pakistan". The Afghan government, in collaboration with RAW, has been supporting the TTP through financial assistance, ammunition supplies, and other means to carry out terrorist activities inside Pakistan.
"For long, Pakistan has been raising the issue of Indian sponsorship to banned terrorist groups Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), designated at the state level as Fitna-e-Khawarij and Fitna-e-Hindustan respectively".
While Pakistan works for peace through diplomatic engagement and counterterrorism operations, India continues to sponsor terrorism as a tool of statecraft. Pakistan's security forces remain committed to defending the nation against Indian-backed proxy networks.
The CTD continues to pursue all those involved in the foiled and executed terror plots, with further details expected as investigations progress.
