ISLAMABAD - Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) at the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Tuesday to review the country's disaster preparedness and coordinated response arrangements for the ongoing monsoon season .

During the visit, the NDMA Chairman provided a comprehensive briefing on the operational capabilities of the NEOC and its technology-enabled response mechanisms, including the "Disaster Lens 2026" system . This advanced monitoring platform provides real-time updates on the prevailing monsoon situation while enabling authorities to track multiple hazards and improve decision-making during crises .
The briefing also covered the centre's multi-hazard monitoring mechanisms and efforts to enhance coordination among relevant institutions during emergencies .
Field Marshal Munir praised the NDMA's efforts to strengthen Pakistan's national disaster management capacity . He stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of operational readiness, effective inter-agency coordination, and swift response to safeguard human lives and critical infrastructure during natural disasters .
The military leadership reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to assist the civil administration and the NDMA in relief, rescue, and rehabilitation operations whenever required during the monsoon season .
The visit comes amid ongoing concerns over monsoon-related risks across the country, with authorities continuing to monitor weather developments and maintain heightened readiness .
