Karachi: In a swift and professional humanitarian operation, the Pakistan Navy successfully rescued 18 crew members from the merchant vessel MV Gold Autumn after it caught fire in the North Arabian Sea, approximately 200 nautical miles (370 km) off Pakistan's coast.
Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Hunain immediately responded to the distress call and rushed to the scene. The ship's specialized team provided critical medical aid, assisted in firefighting efforts, conducted damage assessment, and safely evacuated all 18 sailors. The rescued crew members are nationals of China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
All evacuated sailors were brought to Karachi for immediate medical checks and further care before their repatriation to their respective countries. One of the rescued sailors expressed deep gratitude, saying: "Thanks to the Pakistan Navy ship, it's safe for our lives... Thank you Pakistan Navy."
This timely rescue operation once again highlights Pakistan Navy's strong commitment to maritime safety, search and rescue missions, and its role as a responsible first responder in the region, extending help far beyond its shores to save precious lives at sea.
